Rabid Trump: ‘Vicious dogs’ would have met White House protesters

US President Donald Trump has said demonstrators protesting the death of a handcuffed black man in police custody would have been "greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons” had they breached the White House fence.

Trump made the remarks in a series of Twitter posts on Saturday where he also suggested his supporters should demonstrate outside the executive mansion on Saturday evening.

“TONIGHT, I UNDERSTAND IS MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE???” he tweeted, MAGA stands for Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again.”

Mass protests over police killings of African Americans have spread to cities across the US, hours after the white Minneapolis police officer who pressed his knee into George Floyd’s neck as he begged for air was arrested and charged with murder.

Large demonstrations were held on Friday in cities including New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Denver, Houston and Washington, DC, amid widespread anger over the death of Floyd and other black Americans by the hands of police.

The US Secret Service ordered the lockdown on Friday evening as hundreds of protesters gathered in the afternoon across the street in Lafayette Square, with reports of some burning American flags.

They gathered again later and videos showed pushing-and-shoving matches between Secret Service officers and demonstrators. They later on dispersed.

Trump praised the US Secret Service officers who guard the White House as “very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe.”

Great job last night at the White House by the U.S. @SecretService. They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe. They let the “protesters” scream & rant as much as they wanted, but whenever someone….

“Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had they would have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons,” he said.

“Many Secret Service agents just waiting for action,” he said.

….got too frisky or out of line, they would quickly come down on them, hard – didn’t know what hit them. The front line was replaced with fresh agents, like magic. Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had they would….

In a separate rally in the US capital, over 2,000 protesters moved to the Trump International Hotel, chanting “we can’t breathe” and “no justice, no peace” as well as carrying a variety of signs.

Trump on Friday also called protesters in Minneapolis “thugs” and vowed that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” after protesters torched a police station.

He also intensified a war of words with Twitter for hiding one of his tweets behind a warning that it glorifies violence.

Trump accused Twitter of targeting him and the Republicans. He said the tech giant has turned a blind eye to what he called lies and propaganda put out by China and the Democrats.
