Raqqa: Syrian Soldiers Storm Terrorists’ Defense Lines en Route to Al-Sukhnah in Homs

The Syrian army troops deployed in Southwestern Raqqa continued to advance against ISIL en route to the town of al-Sukhnah, the last stronghold of the terrorist group in Northeastern Homs.

The army’s elite forces, backed up by the country’s Air Force, drove ISIL out of the regions of Ba’ar al-Ataw, Ba’ar al-Zanati and Ba’ar al-Houran in Southwestern Raqqa and engaged in fierce clashes with terrorists South of the town of al-Rasafeh.

The elite forces pushed the militants back from Haqal Kadi South of Ba’ar al-Zanati and Kirbat al-Haloul East of Haqal al-Kadir.

Meantime, the army aircraft pounded ISIL’s positions in al-Shajiri and its surrounding areas, South of Khirbet al-Haloul, al-Zamleh and its Southern part in Western and Southwestern Raqqa, destroying several military vehicles.

Some of the media sources said that after the recent advances, the army soldiers entered Homs via the Raqqa border, adding that if the pro-government forces seize 70km of Raqqa’s borders with Homs towards the South upto al-Heil energy field, they will be able to lay siege on ISIL terrorists in a region as large as 11,000sq/km of area in the provinces of Homs, Hama and Raqqa.

Relevant reports said on Thursday that the army’s Tiger Forces alongside other pro-government forces started special military operation to take back the strategic town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs province.

The special forces started their military operations from the Southern parts of Raqqa.

Syrian special troops plan to expand Southward from the key town of al-Rasafeh in order to press ISIL’s positions as far South as al-Sukhnah in the Eastern parts of Homs province.

As the Tiger Forces were pushing South to Homs province, it would allow their allies from the Desert Hawks Brigade to blitz the ISIL’s positions in the Eastern parts of Hama province.

Meantime, the Syrian army forces continue massive operations from Western al-Sukhnah – the Eastern parts of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) – towards the last ISIL stronghold in Homs.

The Syrian army units and Hezbollah fighters also continued their operations to reach the strategic town of al-Sukhnah, the Takfiri terrorist group’s last defense lines directly West of the city of Deir Ezzur, deploying their forces just a few kilometer away from the vital bastion.

A field source announced the Syrian troops’ massive operation in Eastern Homs and Hama, saying that driving the ISIL out of Aqayrabat and al-Sukhnah means the end of the terrorist group’s presence in Central Syria.
