Russia Announces Construction of Eight Nuclear Power Plants in Iran

Iran has officially entered into an agreement with Russia to build eight nuclear power plants on its soil, as confirmed by the spokesperson for Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

On Monday, Ebrahim Rezaei announced that an accord with Russia will see the construction of eight nuclear power plants in Iran, with four slated for development in Bushehr, located in the southern region of the country.

Following a visit to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and its assorted facilities, including the Tehran Research Reactor, members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission were addressed by Rezaei, who made these statements.

He reported that the delegation also toured the radioisotope production facility at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), where they received a briefing on the latest advancements, progress, and operations in this sector.

In a statement, Rezaei emphasized that the development of Units 2 and 3 at the Bushehr nuclear power plant is being executed solely by Iranian companies, citing remarks from Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

The report highlights that Ebrahim Azizi, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, underscored that the commission members’ presence at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) serves as a signal to all adversaries of the Iranian nation.

The head of the commission issued a strong statement to Iran’s adversaries, asserting that the nation’s nuclear industry is unwavering and irreversible. Emphasizing resilience, the leader declared an unwavering commitment to defend the nuclear industry “to our last breath,” signaling a firm stance against any pressure to abandon its pursuits.
