Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili says certain Western powers are destabilizing countries to prepare the ground for their presence in such states.

In a meeting with the visiting Secretary of Azerbaijan’s National Security Council Ramiz Mehdiyev in Tehran on Monday, Jalili added that examples of such measures by Western power can be seen in “color revolutions and in certain regional countries such as Syria.”

The SNSC secretary pointed to cultural bonds between Iran and Azerbaijan and said common opportunities and threats lay the ground for further bilateral cooperation in cultural, political and economic areas.

”With its utmost potential and full experience, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand and promote relations between the two countries,” Jalili pointed out.

He emphasized that no country can make a dent in the deep amicable relations between Tehran and Baku.

Mehdiyev, for his part said Azerbaijan regards Iran as a friend and strong neighbor in its foreign policy.

The head of the Presidential Administration of the Azerbaijan Republic added that Tehran’s progress is in line with Baku’s national interests.

Mehdiyev arrived in Tehran on Monday to discuss issues of mutual interest and regional developments with senior Iranian officials.
