Satanic US president backs gay marriage

US president Barack Obama has announced his outright support for the highly controversial issue of same-sex marriage, citing his prodding by gay friends as major influences on his decision.

“At a certain point, I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” he said in an exclusive televised interview with the mainstream ABC network, arranged by White House staff after Vice President Joseph Biden embraced the idea of gay marriage in an earlier interview.

Obama, who, according to press reports, has long been a proponent of civil unions, contended during the interview that his thoughts on the matter had evolved partly due to being pressed by homosexual friends and by conversations with his wife and two young daughters.

“It’s also the golden rule – you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated; and I think that’s what we try to impart to our kids, and that’s what motivates me as president,” he added.

Obama’s likely Republican challenger in next November’s presidential election, Mitt Romney, expectedly announced his opposition to the issue.

Meanwhile, according to major American media outlets, Obama advisers say that he had intended to publicize his position on same-sex marriage sometime before the Democratic Party officially nominates him for re-election in September.

Unexpected remarks on the issue by Biden last Sunday, however, accelerated Obama’s timetable for announcing his stance on the politically charged social issue.

Moreover, the political impact of Obama’s hasty move is uncertain, according to his advisers who insist that despite the injection of a highly volatile social matter into the presidential campaign debate, the election will undoubtedly be decided by economic issues.
