Hariri rejects Syria role in his father’s assassination

Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, rejected Syria’s interference in assassination of Rafik Hariri.

Five years ago, Rafik Hariri was killed in a bombing which his son and allies accused the Syrian leader of having hands in the assassination.

But in his recent interview with Times daily, Saad Hariri adopted a very different stance, saying “I don’t think that the Syrian President had done any action in this connection.”

In response to a question about perpetrators of the terrorist attack, he said “I am a prime minister and have no time to suggest that.”

The daily wrote that the remarks would be undoubtedly welcomed by Damascus and provoke discussions in Lebanon.
