Supreme Leader warns against Shia-Sunni division

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei has urged Muslims not to fall into the latest US-israeli trap, Press TV reports.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the subterfuge was devised to promote Iranophobia and foment strife between Shias and Sunnis, particularly during the hajj rituals in Saudi Arabia.

“The Americans are trying their best to regain control of the region, but it’s useless. Muslim nations are now vigilant,” The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei said during a visit to the city of Kermanshah in western Iran, noting that Shias and Sunnis must remain vigilant and counter the new propaganda campaign against Iran through cooperation and dialogue.

The Supreme Leader stated that Iran has overcome all the imposed challenges to this very day, adding, “With the help of God, it will also overcome any other challenge it might happen to face in the future.”

On the third day of a trip to the western Iranian province of Kermanshah on Friday, the Leader met with thousands of Basiji forces, and said Basiji spirit should always be promoted so that it increases in all segments of Iranian society.

Commenting on the new plot, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi told Press TV that the israeli lobby played a key role in convincing Washington to accuse Iran of plotting to assassinate the Saudi envoy to Washington, and warned that that there would be a price to pay if efforts are made to use the plot as an excuse to invade Iran.
Salehi said, “At least 100,000 Iranians are going to Saudi Arabia to perform the annual hajj pilgrimage… This clearly means that we have no problems with Saudi Arabia.”Earlier in the week, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States, Adel al-Jubeir, with help from a man suspected of being a member of a Mexican drug cartel.
A number of Iranian officials also say that the US-israeli plot has some other aims, such as disrupting the hajj rituals, creating tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and disturbing the delicate balance of power in the Middle East.
