Syrian Arm Operations to Break Siege of Deir Ezzur Military Airport

 

The Syrian army backed by the air force continued their military operation in Deir Ezzur province on Friday to lift the ISIL’s siege of the city’s military airport.

The Syrian army’s artillery and missile units backed by the country’s air force hit hard ISIL’s gathering centers and movements near Deir Ezzur cemetery, inflicting heavy losses and casualties on the militants.

The Syrian and Russian fighter jets also pounded ISIL’s military positions in Hilltop 17 near Jabal Tharda (Tharda mountain) in Southern Deir Ezzur which resulted in the destruction of two military vehicles and razed five military positions of the ISIL, killing several ISIL terrorists.

The Syrian army troops’ artillery and missile units also targeted the ISIL’s military positions in al-Ma’amel region which resulted in the destruction of an arms depot.

In a relevant development on Thursday, the Syrian army repelled an ISIL offensive against Deir Ezzur airbase, inflicting heavy loss and damage on the terrorists and forcing them to flee the battlefield.

The ISIL terrorists launched a heavy attack on the Syrian army positions in al-Sina region and near the Deir Ezzur military airport but their offensive was repulsed after several hours of fierce clashes and death of dozens of militants.

A military source said that the Syrian forces could kill over 30 terrorists and wound double this number.

He added that 2 military vehicles of militants were also destroyed during the failed attack.

Also, on Wednesday, Syrian army troops in a preemptive move targeted the gatherings and movements of the ISIL terrorists in the Southern countryside of Deir Ezzur, preventing their move towards the city’s military airport.

The army soldiers stormed ISIL’s concentration centers and movements near Deir Ezzur airbase and foiled the terrorists’ plans for an imminent offensive, killing at least nine terrorists, including several non-Syrians.

The ISIL pulled the remaining pockets of its forces back from the battlefield to evade more casualties.

In relevant developments in the province on Tuesday, ISIL suffered a heavy death toll and its military hardware sustained major damage after the Syrian Army troops and Air Force intensified attacks on their gatherings and concentration centers near and inside the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur.
