Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attack on Gov’t Positions in Idlib

 

The Syrian army soldiers warded off terrorists’ attack on their positions in Idlib province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The terrorist fierce attack to capture the government forces’ positions near Abu al-Dhohour military airport in Idlib was fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Hama, over past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Idlib

The Syrian army, supported by heavy airstrikes, repelled the terrorists’ fierce attack against their positions near Abu al-Dhohour military airport in Idlib.

The army forces engaged in heavy clashes with Dahr al-Qazat terrorist group in West of Abu al-Dhohour in Southern Idlib on Wednesday, destroying 2 tanks and 4 military vehicles of militants with guided missiles.

They also killed 13 terrorists and wounded tens of others.

Meantime, the Russian and Syrian fighter jets pounded the terrorists’ positions and moves in Ma’arat al-Nu’man and the nearby areas as well as Jarjanaz region, smashing their positions and killing at least 10 militants.

Hama

The Syrian army units regained control over several regions in Northeastern Hama, tightening the noose on the terrorists stationed in the ISIL-held triangle in Hama, Aleppo and Idlib.

The Syrian army forces continued clashes against the ISIL terrorists in Northeastern Hama, regaining control of the towns and villages of Northern Hawayes, Ab al-Khazaneh, Hawayes Ibn Hadib, Jabal al-Hawayes, Tal Abouyeh, Rasm al-Hamam, Jabal al-Modawar, Tal Za’abaq, Qasr Ibn Wardan, Rasm al-Anaz, Tarout al-Shamaliyeh and Tarout al-Jonoubiyeh.

Meantime, the army soldiers killed a number of terrorists and destroyed their military equipment.

In a relevant development earlier on Thursday, the Syrian army forces retook control of 20 new regions in purging operations against the ISIL in Hama, Aleppo and Idlib provinces.

The army soldiers continued clashes against the ISIL in Northeastern Hama, winning back control of the villages of Janineh, Job al-Sakar, al-Hanin, al-Khatabiyeh, Abu Mahaleh, Job al-Hanteh, al-Qanater, Jadideh, Abu Habaya, Marami Bani Hilal, Um Zahimak, al-Baydhah, Faydhah and Motevasetiyeh.

They also continued advance in the region, taking back control of the villages of Aqlah, Moshirfeh, Maksar al-Sharqi, Abu al-Qanat, Aby Sawaya and Qal’at al-Hawayes.

The engineering units of the army started cleansing operations immediately after freedom of these regions.

Aleppo

A notorious commander of al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) was killed during heavy infightings among the terrorists in Northern Syria.

Field sources reported on Thursday that a senior al-Nusra commander named Abu Jawad al-Toubin was killed by unknown assailants on Sheikh Ali road in Western Aleppo.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) suppressed the civilians and looted their properties in Deir Ezzur.

Local sources in Western Deir Ezzur confirmed on Thursday that the Kurdish forces have closed the road linking between their controlled regions and areas under the Syrian army’s control, blocking the civilians’ traffic in the area.

Meantime, reports said that the Kurdish forces in the town of Merkada in Southern Hasaka and the town of al-Sour in Northeastern Deir Ezzur have looted properties in trade zones.

Also earlier, local sources had reported that severe tensions erupted between the SDF and tribal people in Eastern Deir Ezzur.

The sources said that people in the village of al-Shahil stormed the SDF centers and captured nine of the Kurdish fighters after one of the villagers was reportedly killed by the SDF.

The villagers have called for the handover of the murderer.

The SDF has put its forces on alert following the unrest.

Raqqa

The Kurdish forces recruited a large number of civilians in different regions in Raqqa province, forcing them to join the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), local sources said on Thursday as tensions between the Kurds and the Turkish army in Afrin intensified.

The sources in Northern Raqqa reported that the Kurdish forces have detained over 1,500 young people from the towns and villages of the region with the aim of recruiting them for fight against the Turkish army and its affiliated militants.

They also underlined increased recruitment activities by the Kurds in the region, adding that a large number of teachers in Salouk and Tal Abyadh regions in Raqqa province have been transferred to Khorous base in South of the town of Ain al-Arab (Kobani) in Eastern Aleppo.
