Syrian President pledges to combat terrorism through military action
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has pledged to intensify military efforts to eliminate "terrorism" following a significant offensive by foreign-backed militant groups in the northwestern regions, marking the largest such assault in several years.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad conveyed his comments in a phone conversation with the acting president of the Republic of Abkhazia on Sunday, as reported by the state news agency SANA.
In a resolute statement, he emphasized that terrorism responds solely to the application of force, asserting that it is through this approach that it will be dismantled, irrespective of its backers and facilitators.
The President of Syria affirmed the nation’s commitment to preserving its stability and territorial integrity. He asserted that, along with its allies, Syria possesses the capability to combat terrorist forces and their supporters effectively.
In light of recent developments, President Bashar al-Assad has addressed the situation in Aleppo, where foreign-backed Takfiri militants have advanced into Syria’s second-largest city. In response, Syrian forces are currently reorganizing and initiating a counteroffensive to regain control.
In the northern city of Hama, Syrian Army units have bolstered their defensive positions, deploying an array of firepower resources, according to local reports.
A Syrian military source informed SANA that their forces stationed in the northern countryside of Hama successfully thwarted efforts by terrorist organizations to make any advances.
According to reports, Syrian military forces have successfully reclaimed multiple territories, including the strategic locations of Qal’at al-Madiq and the village of Ma’ardas in the Hama region, following the expulsion of terrorist elements.
On Wednesday, militants affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham initiated an extensive offensive across Syria’s Aleppo and Idlib provinces, successfully capturing multiple regions in the northwest of the country.
Since that time, Syrian government forces have engaged in intense battles with insurgent elements in a bid to reclaim territory.
Syrian media sources have reported that close to a thousand Takfiri militants, including leaders from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, have been killed in the northwestern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib over the past three days. These militants are said to have foreign backing.
Syrian forces, with the backing of Russian air support, have successfully neutralized the terrorists.
Since March 2011, Syria has been engulfed in conflict, with the government in Damascus asserting that Western nations and their regional partners are supporting militant groups to destabilize the country.
Militant groups are actively attempting to disrupt the Syrian government’s initiatives to establish security and stability within the nation, which continues to face frequent aggression from Israeli forces.
Since the onset of the foreign-induced conflict in Syria in March 2011, Israel has been cited as a primary backer of opposition factions challenging the democratically elected government of President Bashar al-Assad.
