Tens of thousands rally in New York City to support Palestine, call for immediate ceasefire

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have taken to the streets in New York City in support of Palestinians, as the Israeli regime continues its brutal aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.

The demonstrators gathered in front of the City Hall on Tuesday and then began marching across the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn as they carried banners and waved Palestinian flags.

The protesters at the rally, dubbed the ‘Flood NYC Election Day for Gaza,’ said they want elected leaders to hear their voices, as they called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Nerdeen Kiswani, one of the organizers of the rally said “It’s a cry for freedom that we’ve been repeating for decades, and it’s really important for these elected officials to hear that.”

“We will continue to come out for Palestine, not just until the bombing stops, not just until there’s a ceasefire but until the siege and blockade ends and until all of Palestine is free,” Kiswani added.

Abdullah Akl, another rally organizer said, “Whether it’s this Election Day or any Election Day, we will vote you out … Us as a community, we feel for one another and so it’s important for us to also show up for one another at times like this.”

The Israeli military is intensifying its brutal military assault against Palestinians in the blockaded territory.

Several other protest rallies have been staged in US cities over the past weeks in support of Palestinians.
