The humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating

images_News_2014_03_30_gaza-kurdi_300_0Ahmad Kurd, coordinator of the charitable institutions in the Gaza Strip and former Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, confirmed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has continued to deteriorate with the tightening of the blockade.

Kurd told PIC’s reporter that despite the difficult conditions, the charitable institutions are trying hard to ease the blockade through a series of charitable projects.

He pointed out that Hamas movement and members in the Palestinian Legislative Council, in partnership with several charitable institutions, have been implementing projects to restore the ramshackle houses, and have succeeded in renovating hundreds of houses.

Kurd also warned that in light of the tightened blockade the poverty rate and the number of unemployed have increased, and that regardless of the resources available, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating.
