The Yemeni army reportedly shot down an F-18 fighter jet and successfully repelled an attack orchestrated by US and UK forces
The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced the successful interception of a coordinated American-British offensive, reportedly downing a US F-18 fighter jet and compelling additional aircraft to retreat from Yemen's airspace.

In a statement delivered on Sunday, Yemeni army spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree addressed the incident following an announcement by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM). CENTCOM had reported that a fighter aircraft was downed over the Red Sea, attributing the incident to “friendly fire.”
Spokesperson Saree announced that forces successfully repelled a coordinated US-British offensive, claiming to have targeted the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman along with several of its escorting destroyers.
He further disclosed that the operation involved the deployment of eight cruise missiles and 17 drones, resulting in the USS Harry Truman being compelled to withdraw.
The Yemeni army spokesman reported that a significant number of hostile aircraft withdrew from Yemen’s airspace, retreating to international waters in the Red Sea. This tactical move was seen as an effort to protect the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman following it being targeted.
Saree reported that Yemeni forces successfully downed an American F-18 aircraft amidst an engagement where enemy destroyers were countering Yemeni drone and missile attacks.
He issued a warning about potential additional measures to safeguard Yemen and support Palestine, emphasizing the armed forces’ preparedness to counter any future provocations from American, British, or Israeli entities.
A spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces has issued a stern warning to both Israel and the United States, cautioning against any acts of aggression towards Yemen. He emphasized that Yemen is prepared to exercise all available means to defend itself and has reiterated its ongoing support for the Palestinian people. The statement further demands an end to hostilities in Gaza and calls for the lifting of the blockade.
In an official statement issued early Sunday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed that a F/A-18F Super Hornet was inadvertently downed. It was confirmed that both U.S. Navy aviators onboard have been safely recovered.
A statement from CENTCOM has reported an incident involving a Super Hornet fighter jet from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), which came under fire from the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG-64) while operating over the Red Sea.
Since the commencement of hostilities by Israel against Gaza on October 7, 2023, Yemen has expressed steadfast support for Palestine’s struggle against Israeli occupation.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have initiated a series of systematic attacks targeting Israel, marking a new phase in their ongoing retaliatory campaign.
The campaign has implemented a stringent maritime blockade, effectively prohibiting Israeli shipping from accessing Israeli ports.
Israeli actions have resulted in the deaths of over 45,259 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, while more than 107,627 individuals have sustained injuries in the Gaza region.
