Top Commander: Era of Military Threats against Iran Over

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi General Hassan Firouzabadi played down the recent war rhetoric by the US and Israel against Iran, and stressed that the era of military threats against Iran has come to an end.

Posing military threats against Iran is meaningless and threatening Iran with the possible outbreak of an imminent war is no more an option in the present day and belongs to the past, Firouzabadi told FNA on Tuesday.

“The Zionist regime was trying to persuade the US to launch war on Iran to keep conditions under a hostile climate, but the US said no to them,” he added.

The relationship between US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu darkened after Obama did not agree to set a “red line” for a military strike against Iran as proposed by Netanyahu in September, and refused to meet Netanyahu in New York in the same month.

Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee who lost to Obama in 2008, had earlier cautioned that there was a clear gap between Israel and the White House on where the redline lies for Iran.

But the US administration officials totally rejected the idea of the redline game. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had said her country does not know any redline for diplomacy and talks with Iran.
