Palestinians’ Massive Anti-Israeli Protests to Continue on Upcoming Quds Day

The National Committee of the Great March of Return called on the Palestinian people to massively participate in the upcoming anti-Israeli protests along the Gaza border next Friday to mark the International Quds Day.

In a statement carried by Palestine Today, the National Committee of the Great March of Return said the 10th consecutive week of protests named “From Gaza to Haifa” were staged in the Gaza border on Friday, June 1.

The next round of the Great March of Return protests will be held next Friday concurrently with the International Quds Day, the statement said.

The protests will not end until the world listens to the Palestinians’ legitimate demand for returning to their homeland and breaking the siege on Gaza, it added.

The National Committee of the Great March of Return also called on Palestinians from all walks of life to participate in the protests on Quds Day.

Since 1948, the Israeli regime has denied Palestinian refugees the right to return, despite UN resolutions and international law that uphold people’s right to return to their homelands.

Israel occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem (al-Quds) and parts of Syria’s Golan Heights during the Six-Day War in 1967. It later annexed East Quds in a move not recognized by the international community.

Israel is required to withdraw from all the territories seized in the war under UN Security Council Resolution 242, adopted months after the Six-Day War, in November 1967, but the Tel Aviv regime has defied that piece of international law ever since.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

This year, Muslims world over will mark the International Quds Day on June 8.
