Defence officials say a US army general has been dismissed from his post at the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

According to AP, officials added on Friday the commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Maj. Gen. Ralph Baker was stripped of his command on March 28 by the outgoing head of AFRICOM Gen. Carter Ham.
Pentagon spokesman Major Rob Firman said in a statement Baker lost his post because of “misconduct that caused a loss of confidence in his ability to command.”
The statement did not give further details about Baker’s alleged misconduct.
Firman’s statement added “As these allegations of misconduct remain under adjudication, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.”
Meanwhile, the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, noted that harassment and inappropriate contact have been among the allegations against Baker.
Baker took control of the task force, which is based at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, on May 2012.
He is currently in Washington, waiting for the result of a disciplinary investigation.
Last May, US Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair was removed from his command in Afghanistan due to multiple criminal charges including sexual misconduct at his court-martial.
