Iran Calls on Brutal Bahrain to End Suppression of Civilians

Iran once again deplored continued suppression of peaceful protests in Bahrain, and called on the Manama regime to correct its policy and end brutality against the people.

“Definitely the crackdown and the Bahraini government’s violent treatment of the peaceful protests which led to deaths and injuries of protesters is an strategic mistake which must be corrected soon,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said on Monday.

He said that continuation of the protests proves that the Bahraini people have made serious decision to achieve their legitimate demands.

Iran believes that the most suitable mechanism in Bahrain is to seriously consider the legitimate demands of people and put an end to crackdown and a rapid exit of foreign military forces from that country, Mehman-Parast stated.

The Iranian spokesman further deplored holding of Formula One Grand Prix despite the bloodshed in Bahrain.

Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the Zionist Puppet Al Khalifa dynasty’s over-40-year rule.

Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar – were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 13, 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.

So far, tens of people have been killed, hundreds have gone missing and more than 1,000 others have been injured.
