The Leader Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei urges foiling of enemy plots

The Leader Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei has called on Iranian officials to use all the resources at their disposal to counter the Western plots seeking to force the country into retreat.

“The arrogant powers have employed all their capabilities to force Iran to retreat and the government must use all of the country’s resources and capacities and continue its progressive trend to shatter these void delusions of the enemy,” the Leader said in a meeting with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his cabinet ministers on Thursday, marking the first day of the Government Week in Iran.

The Leader Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei noted that “resistance economy” is the only way ahead for Iran to continue with its progressive trend.

“In this [type of] economy, the country’s progressive trend will be sustained and the vulnerability of the economic system against the enemy plots will be reduced,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

“Using all the capacities of the governmental and non-governmental sectors, making serious effort to solve the nation’s living problems, combating financial corruption, supporting national production, and fighting profligacy are the requisites of resistance economy.”

While stressing that there is no shortage of goods in the country, the Leader said officials are responsible for addressing the increase in prices and the drop in the people’s purchasing power, which can partly be traced to the inflation rate.

The Leader Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the rise in liquidity is one of the roots of the current problems facing the country, urging the officials to find a solution to contain the liquidity and channel the increased liquidity toward production centers.

The country is moving forward despite all the difficulties and obstacles, the Leader added, saying, “Even global monitoring centers admit to Iran’s progressive trend, but some are suffering from delusions caused by erroneous assessments in this regard.”

Referring to the failure of the Western plots against the Islamic Republic, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said, the global bullies will not renounce their enmity against Iran and with every defeat they will adopt new anti-Iranian measures, so it falls on the officials to be always ready with new initiatives and strategies.

The Leader went on to enumerate four reasons for the escalating US animosity towards the Islamic Republic over the recent years, namely, Iran’s non-stop progress, the revival of revolutionary slogans, the massive and very important awakening of the regional nations, and preventing Iran from becoming a role model in the eyes of these nations.

The Leader Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei further called on the officials to anticipate and preempt the enemy’s moves in order to overcome the plots, saying “If we could read the enemies’ scenarios before their decisions, we will be more successful in the adoption of initiatives.”

During the meeting, Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini provided a report on the country’s economic condition, saying despite enemy efforts to intensify sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Iran’s economy has turned into one of the main poles of growth in the Middle East.

During the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2012) Iran’s economic growth, excluding oil revenues, stood at 5.1 percent, Hosseini said.

He added that foreign investment in Iran had increased from USD 1,600 million in the Iranian calendar year 1386 (March 21, 2007- March 19, 2008) to 4,300 million in the year 1390 (March 21, 2011 – March 19, 2012).

Hosseini stated that Iran’s non-oil exports had also risen 2.3 times while the stock exchange parity witnessed a 2.8-fold increase over the past four years.
