Leader Visits Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum Ahead of Islamic Revolution Anniversary

Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei paid homage to the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, as Iran is going to celebrate the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies marking the 44th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

With the start of the Fajr celebrations, Ayatollah Khamenei visited Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum and paid homage to the memory of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and martyrs of the Revolution in Behesht Zahra Cemetery on January 30.

The Leader visited the graves of dignified martyrs such as Beheshti, Rajai, Bahonar and asked God the Exalted to raise their status, Khamenei.ir reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei also paid homage to the grave of martyr Arman Aliverdi -who was martyred while defending the security of the nation-, a number of the martyrs of the Defense of the Holy Shrines, the medical staff martyred during the coronavirus pandemic, and the unknown martyrs.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

Every year, Iranians mark the anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies.

February 1, 1979, was the date when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned from exile in Paris to Tehran.
