Yemeni forces engaged in prolonged confrontations with US naval vessels and launched attacks on Israeli military targets in the vicinity of Tel Aviv

In a series of escalating hostilities, Yemen's Armed Forces have reportedly confronted US naval vessels in the Red Sea over several hours, according to local sources. Concurrently, the forces have launched drone attacks targeting Israeli military installations near Tel Aviv. These actions are part of Yemen's ongoing response to perceived American military interventions in the region and Israel's ongoing military operations and blockade in Gaza, which have been described by some as aggressive.

On Wednesday, military forces released a statement announcing that their missile, drone, and naval divisions conducted a coordinated offensive against enemy vessels in the Red Sea. Among the targets was the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, which they claimed was launching operations against Yemen.

“The standoff extended over a period of several hours,” officials stated, with Yemeni forces actively involved in managing the situation within the operational zone.

In a separate operation, military forces carried out drone strikes targeting Israeli military installations in the occupied city of Yaffa, located near Tel Aviv. The attacks involved the use of several armed unmanned aerial vehicles.

The recent strikes were deemed to have “successfully achieved their objectives,” according to an official statement. These operations were carried out in “solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza,” the statement further noted.

The armed forces have reaffirmed their dedication to opposing American actions perceived as targeting the Arab Peninsula nation due to its support for pro-Palestinian endeavors. They underscored their resolve to reciprocate any escalations accordingly.

Amid ongoing American assaults on Yemen, with the latest strikes focusing on the northwestern city of Sa’ada, military forces have reiterated their stance on prohibiting Israeli and Israeli-affiliated vessels from navigating through essential maritime routes.

In October 2023, Yemeni forces started implementing a ban following Israel’s initiation of warfare and the intensification of its ongoing siege on the Gaza Strip. While strikes were temporarily halted after Israel entered into a ceasefire with Hamas, hostilities resumed earlier this month. The Yemeni forces aim to pressure Israel to cease violations of the ceasefire agreement and end its blockade, following the recommencement of conflict.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, an appeal was made to “all free individuals across the Arab and Islamic world” to mobilize and intervene in order to halt what was described as a genocide against their brethren in the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday, military forces announced the launch of two ballistic missiles, identified as the Zulfiqar and the hypersonic Palestine-2, towards Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. This move was described as an act of solidarity with residents of Gaza.

Simultaneously, ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones, were launched at the USS Harry S. Truman and its escort vessels in the Red Sea, marking the second assault within a 24-hour period. This action was purportedly in retaliation for perceived American transgressions.
