Hezbollah: Unrest in Egypt part of US plot

The recent clashes in Egypt that resulted in the death of 25 people are part of a U.S. plot to divide the region, Lebanese Hezbollah Party said Monday, calling on Egyptians to adopt dialogue to resolve crises.

“Hezbollah sees that what is going on is part of the U.S. project that aims at disintegrating the entire region based on race, religion,” Hezbollah’s press office said in a statement.

Massive riots took place in Egypt Sunday between security forces and Coptic Christians who were expressing frustration over a recent church attack by fanatic Salafi groups who make a tiny part of the mainstream Egyptian Muslims.

The Salafi group is supported by the Saudi Arabia and has always played into the hand of the US.

The riots left 25 people dead and more than 150 injured.

“[Hezbollah] sees that [the clash] is one form of sectarian strife that is being sowed by the enemies of Egypt, Arabs, Muslims and Christians,”
the statement said, adding that Hezbollah expressed its sadness and pain over the death of civilians.
