Iran says ‘israel’ attempting to escalate regional tensions as a strategy to influence the upcoming US elections

The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry has dismissed allegations of Tehran's meddling in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, instead accusing Israel of attempting to broaden the regional conflict to influence the results of the November election.

Esmail Baghaei stated on the social media platform X on Wednesday that the occupying regime is rapidly escalating regional tensions, ostensibly to influence the forthcoming United States elections through malevolent tactics.

In a statement, the spokesperson criticized US security agencies for what he described as baseless allegations against Iran regarding interference in America’s domestic matters, labeling such claims as a “distortion of facts.”

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented following an annual report issued by the Department of Homeland Security. The report accuses Iran, Russia, and China of attempting to sway the upcoming November elections, purportedly utilizing artificial intelligence technology to spread false or divisive information.

In response to the recent evaluation, Baqaee dismissed the allegations as “unfounded” on Friday. He stated that Washington, given its history of meddling in the internal matters of other nations, lacks the standing to level such accusations against the Islamic Republic.

In August, the campaign team for US Republican presidential contender Donald Trump alleged it had fallen victim to a cyberattack, attributing the breach to Iran, though they did not provide supporting evidence for the claims.

In a recent development, the FBI along with other United States agencies have claimed that Iranian hackers attempted to engage President Joe Biden’s campaign by offering information purportedly stolen from former President Donald Trump’s campaign. Additionally, it has been reported that these hackers sent unsolicited emails to individuals connected with Biden, who was the Democratic candidate at the time.

In response to accusations concerning interference in the upcoming 2024 United States presidential election, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has firmly dismissed the claims. The mission described the allegations as “unsubstantiated,” reinforcing its stance that the Islamic Republic is not involved in such activities.

The Islamic Republic has dismissed the allegations, asserting that it places no value on such claims and has no intention or motive to interfere in the United States’ electoral process.
