IRGC Commander: US Too Weak, No Longer Plays Role in Region
Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami said that Washington has weakened to the extent that it plays no role in the West Asia region’s geopolitical landscape.

General Salami made the remarks in an address to a seminar attended by thousands of university students in the holy city of Mashad.
He stated US President Joe Biden recently paid a visit to the region to insinuate that the Muslim world is still a foreign policy priority for Washington, but he returned to Washington empty-handed.
Salami added that Iran has defeated the US which enjoyed unrivalled hegemony in the region and the whole world before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but after the revolution they were forced to flee the region.
The commander noted that nobody has spread a red carpet for US officials after the Islamic Revolution.
The military official stressed that the Americans are everywhere, but Iran and its airspace, soil and maritime territories are closed to the US.
Gen. Salami stated that more than four decades after the Islamic Revolution, enemie, including the US, are still trying to confront it through sanctions, maximum pressure aimed at isolating Iran, psychological warfare, as well as attempts to destabilize the West Asian region.
But, he added, the Islamic Revolution has led to the rising resistance in the region, with powerful resistance forces now active in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and Syria.
He said Iran managed to attain the artificial intelligence required to guide drones and ballistic missiles while it was under sanction, adding that the artificial intelligence technology enables an unmanned aircraft to fly more than 2,000 km from every point and hit a motion target or a specific location.
Iran has repeatedly cautioned that any plan aimed at increasing US presence in the Middle East will only foment insecurity and instability and spread terrorism.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined the necessity for the settlement of the crises and problems in the region through collective cooperation among the regional states, and underscored that the presence of foreigners is harmful.
Recently, Tehran urged the neighboring countries to be extremely vigilant about any US-Israeli plan that clearly aims to disturb the stability and order of the region.
Iran says Israel is the primary source of instability in West Asia, and the United States remains responsible for the instability in the region as long as its wrong and crisis-making policies are not rectified.
In early March, top military Aide to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said that the American forces will again experience their humiliating flee from Afghanistan in Iraq and Syria.
The US disgraceful flee from Afghanistan will be repeated in Iraq and Eastern Syria too, General Rahim Safavi stated.
“They have to escape from the Persian Gulf and West Asia as they cannot stay in this region,” he added.
