French Embassy in Tunis increases safety precautions
The French Embassy in the Tunisian capital of Tunis has increased safety precautions amid the escalating anger over the European country’s attacks on the West African state of Mali.

According to Tunisia Live, the embassy has also called on French expatriates to be “especially vigilant” and take increased safety precautions.

“In the context of French military intervention in Mali, French citizens are asked to be especially vigilant. It is reminded that any movement in the southern Sahara is prohibited,” the French Embassy said in a communiqué on Thursday.

On January 11, France launched a military intervention in Mali under the pretext of halting the advance of the militants in the African country.

Four days later, France announced that it would more than triple the number of its soldiers in Mali from 800 to 2,500. French troops launched their first ground attack against rebel forces on January 16.
