Explosion at Swiss embassy in Athens

A bomb has exploded at the Swiss embassy in Athens only a day after police defused four parcel bombs across the Greek capital, police reports say.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, a spokeswoman for the embassy told dpa on Tuesday.

Police said bomb experts were also investigating a suspicious package which was sent to the Bulgarian embassy on the same day.

The explosion comes only a day after Greek police discovered three parcel bombs addressed to the Mexican, Belgian and Dutch embassies in Athens.

One of the packages went off at a private courier company slightly injuring a female employee.

Another explosive package intended for French President Nicolas Sarkozy was also found on Tuesday.

Two men, aged 22 and 24, wearing wigs and bulletproof vests and carrying handguns, have been arrested in connection to the event.

One of the suspects is an alleged member of an anarchist group called Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire.

The militant organization is thought to be behind a string of crude bomb and arson attacks in Greece.
