Official: Iran to Unveil New Submarine, Water Jet Engine

Head of the Marine Industries Organization of Iran General Amir Rastegari announced that the country will unveil a new home-made submarine and will produce a water jet engine for high-speed vessels by the end of the current Iranian year (started on March 21).

“Fateh submarine will be unveiled by the end of this year,” General Rastegari said in an interview with the state TV on Tuesday.

“The first national water jet engine will be produced by the end of this year which has applications in high-speed vessels and they were on the list of sanctions but the young people of the Islamic Iran have turned this challenge into an opportunity,” he added.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, General Rastegari had announced that the country’s first home-made national engine for marine use with 1,300 horsepower would be prepared and utilized by the end of the current Iranian year (started on March 21).

“The national 1,300-hp engine will be put into operation by the yearend,” General Rastegari said.

He added that Iran has also gained self-sufficiency in manufacturing combined gearboxes, noting that the country has also been able to renovate 5,000-hp power transfer systems and gearboxes.

Also, in August, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi announced that his forces would soon be supplied with a new modern home-made submarine which will surprise the enemies.

“Fateh submarine will join the Navy’s fleet by the end of this (Iranian) year,” Rear Admiral Khanzadi said.

He explained that different tests have been carried out on Fateh, adding, “Fateh is a Navy surprise for those who show us their claws and teeth.”
