Video- Americans protest US healthcare system

Protesters took to the streets of Washington DC shouting Health care is a human right. Human needs not corporate greed. We are the 99 %.

Members of the October 2011 Stop the Machine movement at Freedom Plaza marched down Pennsylvania avenue to where America’s Health Insurance Plans is located.

AHIP is a national association representing nearly 1300 health insurance companies which provide health insurance to more than 200 million Americans.

Carey Campbell, Chair of the VA Independent Green Movement supports the protest.

Some protesters wore doctors scrubs and white coats to show the movement represents medical professionals who are angry at the way health insurance lobbyists influence the White House and Congress.

The group says Washington lawmakers are lining their pockets at the expense of human lives.

After AHIP, protesters marched to the US Chamber of Commerce which is located near the White House.

Stop the Machine protesters are demonstrating against health insurance companies and President Obama’s Health care reform policies.

Margaret Flowers is a physician who left her practice four years ago to advocate full time for health insurance policies which would benefit all Americans. Flowers says the White House allows insurance companies to write new regulations benefiting companies, not people.

The protesters are outside the US Chamber of Commerce for a reason. They say the organization snowed the American public into buying what the White House was selling.

Protesters say this is the beginning of an independent movement designed to use non-violent tactics to shift the power in the country to create more equitable systems.
