IRGC to display intercepted US drones

A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says the US spy drones downed over the Persian Gulf are in IRGC possession and will be displayed in due course.

“These aircraft are in our possession now and we will definitely display them at the appropriate time,” IRGC Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Ali Fadawi was quoted by Mehr News Agency as saying on Saturday.

In response to Pentagon officials claiming that the drones had not been shot down by Iran, Fadawi said, “Americans regard themselves as a superpower with the most modern technology and science, and it is natural that they will not accept this issue easily and will deny it.”

He said it was definitely the IRGC that shot down the planes and reiterated that the downed drones would be put on display in due time.

Fadawi added that the planes are among the US Navy’s state-of-the-art surveillance drones, and are small enough to be easily operated from warships.

The top commander said the IRGC is keeping a close watch on the activities of foreign warships and aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf.

“We notice their entry as soon as they (foreign warships) cross the Strait of Hormuz,” he underscored.
