White House ‘misrepresents’ Iran deal

50b9e9fdc043edafe9c1c1001a80f9b0_LAn American political analyst says the problem with some hawkish senators in US Congress who are pushing for a new anti-Iran sanctions bill is exacerbated by the way the Obama administration is “misrepresenting” the interim deal over Iran’s nuclear energy program.

Frederick A. Peterson, a US Congress policy advisor, told Press TV Thursday in a phone interview: “The problem, I think, originates from the administration itself in misrepresenting to Congress what the deal actually stood for.”
Iranian Foreign Minister and top nuclear negotiator Mohammad Javad Zarif has already warned that the interim deal over Iran’s nuclear energy program “is dead” if US Congress passes new sanctions against Tehran.
The editorial board of the New York Times has also said that “the more serious threat” to the interim deal over Iran’s nuclear energy program “seems to be on the American side,” warning that recent anti-Iran efforts on the part of US Congress “are not only unproductive but unnecessary.”
Peterson also told Press TV that the threat to the nuclear deal stems from how the Obama administration “represented” the deal to Congress and the American people.
He said: “The breakdown has been perhaps not in the agreement or the negotiations with Tehran but rather in how they are being represented and sold, or the information is being conveyed to Congress and the American people.”
